Make Wave at Your LibrarySummer Reading Programs start July 12th. This years theme is Make Waves at Your Library! Sign up for our program and get free prizes. Don’t forget, if you need a book we don’t have, we’ll order it from other libraries.

Summer Reading ChallengeRead books over the summer and get prizes like gift cards or a free book of your choice. Read eight books to qualify for our grand prize drawing of a gift certificate to Best Buy at the end of the summer.


Manga Discussion Group - July 16th & Aug 6th, 3-4pm

This is your chance to talk about Japanese comics and get a look at new titles. Located in the Children’s Programming Room.

RI Pirate PlayersRI Pirate Players - July 19th, 1:30pm

Ever wonder what pirates were like, or how they lived when they came ashore? Well this summer you can find out. Join the Rhode Island Pirate Players at your local library as they participate in the Summer Reading Program. The fearsome crew will be setting up encampments where you can see what tools of the trade where used, and hear stories about what life was like in pirate-infested colonial Rhode Island.

Percy Jackson Book Discussion - July 23rd, 3-4pm

Talk about the book series and the movie.

Twilight Book Discussion - Aug 13th, 3-4pm

Talk about the latest movie Eclipse and the entire book series.

Musician Marc Bernier's Sea Shanties - Aug 16th, 1:30pmMarc Bernier

What DO you do with a drunken sailor? Marc Bernier will answer that and other tricky maritime conundrums in this sea-shanty based program. Outdoor venues may include ear-splitting fife music too! Marc Bernier is a professional chef, musician, and sailor with a diverse musical and professional background.

Teen Pizza Party - Aug 20th, 1-2pm

To be at the pizza party you must have been enrolled in the Teen Summer Reading Game for grades 6-12 and have read at least 8 books. Open to first 25 participants to sign up.

Dungeons and Dragons Game

Every Wednesday from 3-5pm in the Children's Programming Room.

Anime Night

Every Wednesday night at 6pm we proudly present the best in Japanese animation. Everyone 12-18 is invited.


photo contestThis summer the library is having a digital photography contest. Send us your best pictures, we'll be choosing winners in both grades 6-8th and 9-12th. There is a limit of 10 photos per person.


short story contestAll entries must be typed in Times New Roman 12 point font, and no story can be more than 3,000 words (about fifteen pages). There will be winners in grades 6-8th and 9-12th. There is a limit of 2 submissions per person.
